Selemela Solar PV Project 1

Lichtenburg, North West Province, South Africa

SOLA has commenced with the construction of a 132MWp solar PV wheeling project outside Lichtenburg in the North West Province.

The Project will provide clean energy to African Rainbow Minerals via the Eskom Transmission Network via a Wheeling Agreement. Energy will be transmitted to African Rainbow Minerals’ operations in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

The solar PV plant comprises over 201 252 bifacial solar modules on single axis trackers, covering an area of 105 hectares and generating 295 347 MWh of energy annually. Enough to power over 40 000 households with electricity. The Project will see over 209 589 tons of carbon dioxide emissions being avoided annually.
