SOLA was approached by Cousine Island to design a unique microgrid for the ecotourism destination, using the power of the sun to provide electricity for the island.
SOLA met this brief by designing and constructing a 400 kVA ground-mounted solar PV system with a combined 1.1 MWh battery system that will reduce the island’s diesel usage by 91% and allow the island to save over 500 tons of carbon emissions equivalents per annum.
