SOLA Group has designed, built, commissioned, owns and operates the 6.5Mw solar PV system for Heineken South Africa’s Sedibeng Brewery outside Johannesburg.

Heineken South Africa is a key player in the beer and cider industry in the country, with an impressive portfolio of brands, including our global flagship brand Heineken, Windhoek, Amstel, Strongbow, Sol and Soweto Gold.

It is the latest move made by Heineken, on its journey towards more sustainable brewing.

The landmark project which can brew 13.3 million bottles of its Star Lager beer will reduce the site’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by over 10, 000 tonnes over the lifespan of the plant.

The solar plant boasts 14,000 bifacial panels that move with the rising and setting of the sun, having a significant 6.5MW of power.
