Similarly to the Aries project, the Konkoonsies 10MW Solar Energy Facility was originated by SOLA and developed as a greenfield site in partnership with BioTherm Energy ahead of Round 1 of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Program (REIPPPP).

As with Aries, this project has been operating successfully since commissioning in 2014, and SOLA retains a minority shareholding and a seat on the board of the project company.

Key activities by SOLA:

• Complete permitting and licensing of project
• Management of the grid integration design and authorisation process
• Consultation on design drawings in relation to permits and authorisations
• Management of the EPC selection, appointment and contracting process
