Ian Burger, PhD

Ian is a registered professional engineer and holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering, and has designed and overseen the design of over 700MW solar PV projects. Ian joined SOLA in 2013 and quickly established himself as a subject matter expert in the solar industry. He served as Head of Engineering, prior to being appointed as Managing Director in March 2024.

Ian currently oversees SOLA Build, as well as the newly established SOLA Operations, and manages a growing team of over 65 employees. Throughout his tenure, Ian has Designed and commissioned 38+ MWp on 50 C&I Solar PV projects and designed 40300+ MWp ground-mounted PV projects.
